Adolescent Therapy

Detailed Service Description

The adolescent years can bring rapid change, growing independence, academic and career pressure, shifting relationships, identity questions, family stress, and emotions that can feel difficult to manage alone. Therapy offers a supportive space to slow down, talk openly, make sense of what is happening, strengthen coping and communication skills, and build confidence in handling life’s challenges. Karis Therapy Group works with adolescent ages 13+ and young adults in a way that respects their voice, developmental stage, family context, and growing independence.

Common Concerns

Self-Esteem

Sessions can support clients in understanding self-talk, recognizing strengths, setting healthier boundaries, building confidence, and developing a more grounded sense of self.

Anxiety / Stress

Therapy can help adolescent and young adults recognize stress patterns, understand triggers, strengthen coping skills, and develop healthier ways to respond to academic, social, family, and life pressures.

ASchool-Related Stress

Therapy may address academic pressure, motivation, peer dynamics, school transitions, belonging, decision-making, stress, and the emotional impact of school experiences.

Relationship Concerns

Clients can explore friendships, dating relationships, family relationships, boundaries, communication, conflict, trust, and patterns that affect connection with others.

Identity Development / Life Transitions

Therapy provides room to explore values, identity, independence, future decisions, college/career transitions, changing roles, and the process of becoming more confident in who you are.

Family Involvement

Family involvement is considered thoughtfully and depends on the client’s age, needs, treatment goals, consent requirements, safety, and applicable law. When a parent or guardian is involved, the therapist will explain expectations for communication and confidentiality at the start of care.

Therapy Approach

Warm, collaborative, strengths-based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate. Specific treatment methods will be selected based on the client’s needs and the clinician’s training.

What Adolescent / Young Adults Can Expect

A respectful, nonjudgmental space where they can talk honestly, ask questions, set goals, learn practical skills, and have an active voice in therapy. The therapist will not expect a client to disclose everything immediately; trust and progress are built over time.

Telehealth Information

Adolescent therapy is available through secure telehealth for eligible clients. A private setting, reliable internet connection, and appropriate device are recommended.
